Make your own beef burgers and add tasty roasted sweet potato wedges for an easy student meal.
The below will make for 4-6 servings.
How to make Naked Homemade Burgers with Sweet Potato Wedges:
- For the burgers, begin by preheating the oven to 200 degrees celsius (gas mark 6)
- Finely chop the onion (really really fine!) and place into a mixing bowl.
- Add the mince, egg and mixed herbs into the bowl, and mix together. Season with salt and pepper.
- Split the mixture into quarters and roll each quarter in your hands to make a large meatball. Make sure the balls are tightly compressed to avoid the burgers falling apart. Place the balls on a plate and press down on each one to create a burger patty. Place in the fridge for 10-15 minutes to set.
- After the patties have set place them onto a baking tray covered with kitchen foil (Lightly cover the foil with oil to avoid the burgers sticking) and place in the oven for 5 minutes.
- After 5 minutes turn over the patties and continue to cook for a further 5 minutes or until the inside of the burger is no longer pink.
- OPTIONAL Add a slice of the cheese of your choice on top of the burgers and place in the oven for a couple of minutes to let it melt.
- For the Sweet Potato Wedges, Cut the sweet potato into wedge sized pieces.
- Place the wedges into a bowl and add some olive oil. Mix until the wedges are lightly covered. Season with salt and pepper.
- Roast the wedges in the oven for approx. 15-20 minutes on a baking tray covered with kitchen foil, until they are lightly browned
- OPTIONAL: Serve dish with a side of salad and a drizzle of Sweet Chilli Sauce.
